Duel academy RPG!

First topic message reminder :

So some of you remember the idea we once came up with. Our very own roleplay rpg consisting of dueling through various seasons of the ygo anime and such. Now i see people are still hype for this so i want to discuss what you guys would like to have and not have, so that i can work on this to give all a good experience. Discuss below!

Newly Semi-Limited:
The remainder of the previously Forbidden cards should be Limited, as they were banned for a reason.  Granted, some of these are Semi-Limited or even Unlimted in the OCG, but I feel that a bit of a slower change would be better, especially since most of use are used to the TCG banlist.

In your banlist, I don't know if these were oversights, but you never listed them, which made them Semi-Limited.  I felt like they should be moved to Limited, instead.

I don't know about Pep, but it was intentional for me.  The same is true with Genex Ally Birdman.  However, since we are also unbanning Elemenal HERO Stratos, Divine Wind FTK is playable again.  I had forgotten about this, so measures should probably be taken to prevent it.  The simplest solution would be to ban Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird.  This will also prevent several other FTKs.

DA RP Banlist Proposition

Notes:

I'm still listing both Substitoad and Mass Driver as Forbidden because neither of them are limited to once per turn.  Substitoad would still be overpowered due to Ronintoadin.  Mass Driver could easily be used to finish off OTKs.

Pep does have a good point about Alternative White Dragon, so I'll move it to Limited.

We can have Magical Scientist and Makyura the Destructor as Limited, but I feel like these will be contenders for being re-banned later in the RP.

I've already mentioned what I need to about Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird.

Now keep in mind, we cannot prevent every OTK. Even if they are posible with the cards that are unbanned, the highlander rule canceles most of the OTKs around, as they are based on fast play and consistency in making them. 


My opinion still stands about the frog situation. Swap Frog is there real bread and butter, there biggest combo starter and without it, nobody will use frogs. I will also say I haven't been playing when those cards were at there best (at least not truly playing) so I cannot tell how powerful they will truly are. I'll have to go neutral on this, and trust Dan with the decision. 


Again, Magical Scientist and Makyura the Destructor are cards that people probably won't use even if unbanned. We can put them at limited and will probably never ever hear from them, unless some crazy ass person decides to experiment.


Same here. Devine Wind FTK, will almost be impossible with the highlander rule imo. I didn't think of the card (I guess Dan got though every single fucking card lol), but if you want to prevent it, sure go ahead, it wouldn't change anything. 


In the end we are talking about little things that won't make a true impact on the experience. If there are any cards that will do and I or Dan have missed, that is where we should focus. All those FTKs and OTKs will have a 30% success rate AT BEST. The chances of it getting out of hand is even lower, as there are ways to prevent some of those things. Another thing is people will probably want decks that will consistently work for them. People won't really think of playing this old ass shit FTK/OTK deck. ALSO 3rd point, let's not forget there will be a deck judge. If a deck seems to be abusing any specific OTK/FTK that the deck judge thing might hurt the game it will not be allowed.

Lol, depending on the amount of people joining, you should increase the number villains. Tho as I said, You could play multiple villains. Or have a staff member play/post in the RP/RPG, but one of you 4 play the games.

Nah i wanna be the villain by myself as in , the words i speak and the actions i take. Well what if we make it that the duelists who lose the duels become possessed or something like that. These are shadow games, so penalties must exist

What I mean is for it to be able to have more villains. (And not have 2 completly played by the same person.) you can have another staff say the words and you play the duels on his behalf.)

Tbh one *person(Next lvl grammars) talking and the other one playing just...sucks.
But if it's REALLY needed learn a thing or 2 from @Yarn Tethers...Playing on more than 1 character shouldn't be hard if it's needed(Says the guy who's simply awful at RPs :3 )

Unban Barkion. There is no need to ban a card that doesn't really do THAT much. 

Keep in mind that highlander rules, makes synchro decks much slower, since they sometimes can't get to there resources that quicky. I personally think that level eater wont hurt as much. Or just ban Librarian lol.

I'm suggesting that mostly because it would look kinda weird  having the same guy play 2 villains tbh. 


Also I'm not really liking the idea of that tbh. While it could make for some good twists, it's not how shadow duels work. This should be left for a Society of Light type of storyline.

Well, I don't know tbh. One thing to note tho. The villains decks should not be too good. They should be decks, that everybody could defeat. Maybe have the final baddy have a better deck to make things more interesting. That's why I think there should be around 6-7 shadow duelists. So many of the members will be able to have a shot at one of them.

I disagree. their decks shouldn't be bad if you also disagree with the idea of no penalty to losing to shadow duelists(well..not sure if you do...) cause it'd be like...too easy that way;Getting multiple tries vs a deck that's not so hard to beat...?
Also the number of shadows can be discussed after the sign-ups are over..but still I think 6is too much(Imagine having 6mafias...)

We are making the game very luck based in many ways. But we are also getting back the old days. Then, certain decks were better then others. And the idea of the RP is not like who will win. Bad guys or good guys. So your reference to mafia, doesn't really make sence. Villains are ultimately there, to be defeated. And if it is TOO hard from them to be defeated, people will get tired or bored. I'm saying there should be a well thought system. Some are easier, some are harder. And you will know if you are gonna challenge the big bad, you are gonna have to prepare for the duel of your life.
